Farm
P.E.I. has the longest history of growing potatoes in Canada, with the first crop dating back to 1790. It’s the largest potato-producing province in Canada, and the industry remains the economic lifeblood for this region.
Food
Although the growing season is typically shorter, Cavendish Farms grows specific potato varieties like Shepody and Russet, which mature quickly. Plus, they’re the perfect shape and consistency for French fries.
Family

- Our Energy Efficiency Teams continue to examine the agriculture industry as a whole, and create environmentally friendlier ways to work the land.
- Combined initiatives at our biogas facility have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 47% (46,000 tonnes CO2e) annually; the equivalent to taking approximately 12,000 cars off the road and saving approximately 30% in energy costs.
- Our Russet type Prospect Potato is a proprietary variety developed by agricultural experts that grows faster, and requires less water, less fertilizer, and less pest control application. This means more potatoes, fewer footprints!
